On Friday, 22 June 2018, the award ceremony for the first Georgian history competition took place at the “Writer’s House” in Tbilisi. The fin-de-siècle building formed a suitable setting for the ceremony which was attended by around 70 participants and tutors.
On 16 June 2018, the award ceremony of the Ukrainian history competition took place in the National Museum of History in Kiev. 288 teams with more than 1,000 young people aged between 14 and 18 years from different regions of Ukraine submitted their entries on the topic: »(Hi)story of my Community: The Past for a Common Future.«
On 14 June 2018, the award ceremony for the Belarusian history competition 2017/2018 took place in Minsk. Winners and organisers gathered in the former house and studio of the sculptor Said Azgur, which now houses a museum dedicated to the artist and his work.
During 2017 and 2018, history competitions in four countries – Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine – will be supported within the framework of a cooperation project supervised by Körber-Stiftung/EUSTORY and DVV International and funded by the German Foreign Office.
Representatives from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine gathered in Hamburg for a workshop to discuss the initiation and strengthening of history competitions in their respective countries. Between May 2017 and December 2018 they want to organise and host competition rounds for school and university students.
