Award Ceremony of the 11th Bulgarian National History Competition
The eleventh edition of Bulgaria's National History Competition on the topic of “Childhood in History” has successfully finished. The winners were awarded in an official ceremony, which was held in the Central Military Club Sofia on 22 June 2019. The prizes were handed out by former President Petar Stoyanov (1997-2002), who traditionally gives the first prize to the winners, by Slava Ivanova, chair of the National Endowment Fund “13 Centuries Bulgaria” and by Mrs. Antonina Stoyanova, president of the “Values Foundation”. The Values Foundation has held the competition for high school students for more than 20 years without interruption. The ceremony has been very widely covered on a national level: in the main newspapers and online editions, websites and on the main radio programmes.
Petya Georgieva, who has been a project manager of the NHC Bulgaria for many years, was leading the ceremony. She also introduced the EUSTORY Network, since she has been a part of the competition and the network for a long time. Petya gave the floor to Decho Pavlov, who is a prize winner for a second consecutive year and attended the EUSTORY Next Generation Summit 2018 in Berlin last year. He gave a well-structured and detailed speech about the Summit, pointing out all of the benefits and opportunities resulting from taking part in the Summit. Decho finished his speech by urging the other winners to apply for the Summit and saying that the greatest benefits at the end of this experience are the international friendships and contacts one is able to make. Afterwards, a short video was shown in order to provide a glimpse of what the Summit was like.
