Bulgarian Award Ceremony 2013
This year's award ceremony in Bulgaria took place on 1 June, 2013 in Sofia in the National History Museum, located in the former socialist president’s residence half way up the mountains.
Petar Stoyanov, Bulgarian president from 1997 till 2002, handed the awarded to the students for their research works on the topic of 'Tolerance in Bulgaria'. The topic encouraged 140 students to participate with 82 works mainly dealing with examples of ethnical and religious tolerance in Bulgaria; 15 students won a prize.

In addition to the money prizes available for the best six works, several institutions awarded bonus prizes: The Ministry of Education and Science together with the publishing house “Ednorog”, gave an award to the school with the most submissions, and the Syndicate of the Bulgarian Teachers awarded a successful tutor.
One special award went to a group of Roma students given by the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore. Shalom, the organisation of the Bulgarian Jews, awarded another work dealing with the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during WWII with a medal of honor. The publishing house "Top New Books", the State Archives, and the DSK Bank also awarded special prizes.
As a surprise and special 'award' for Liliana Panova, the organiser of the Bulgarian history competition from the beginning, the winner of the first edition from 1999/2000 also attended this award ceremony, as a support for the prize winners from her hometown.
