Award Ceremony of the 10th Czech History Competition

On 18 April, ten prize-winners of the Czech History Competition received their prizes at the award ceremony that took place in the Town Hall of Prague 3. Many partners and co-operating organisations of the competition as well as the pupils’ history teachers and family members attended the event. The ceremonial morning was opened by Vladislava Hujová, acting mayor of Prague 3.

Afterwards, Dr. Zdeněk Hazdra, Director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, had the floor. Hazdra remembered being among the EUSTORY students in the very first Czech EUSTORY History Competition that was carried out in the year 2001/2002. He wished the young researchers success in their future work and studies. Together with Czech Lion award-holder, actor Ondřej Malý, as well as Petr Pánek, Chairman of “PANT Citizens' Association”, he handed over the prizes.

First prize was awarded to Markéta Šteklová from Gymnasium Sokolov and the Regional Training Center together with her tutor Vladimír Bružeňák.
Kristýna Vyhnalíková from Brno was honored with the prize for the best literary work.

Besides an iPhone, the authors of the best three works received an annual subscription of the journal “Respect” as well as several book prizes. The winners of the fourth and fifth place received two tickets for the festival “Colours of Ostrava” and vouchers for travelling in Europe. Furthermore, all prize winners had the chance to apply for a place in the EUSTORY Next Generation Summit 2017 that will take place in Berlin in October and will gather more than 100 young Europeans.
For the last six years “PANT Citizens' Association” has been organising the Czech EUSTORY History Competition.
