On 31 March 2019, the Danish History Teachers´ Organisation for (upper) Secondary Schools awarded the winners of the 13th National History Competition during the historical festival »Historiske Dage« in Copenhagen.

What does my hometown mean to me and what did it mean to my ancestors? How do Danish citizens’ everyday lives and experiences in 2019 differ from those of Danes who lived several decades and centuries ago? Within the framework of the 13th Danish National History Competition, around 50 high school students dealt with these and similar questions in groups or individually, working out their personal projects under the topic of »My City«.

With their work on the city of Århus, 17 years-old Sara Pontoppidan and Mathilde V. Johansen from Viby prevailed over 34 other contributions that were handed in. Mogens Lykketoft, former leader of the UN General Assembly and patron of the Danish EUSTORY History Competition, handed over the prizes.

The prizes for the three best projects are endowed with 10,000, 5,000 und 3,000 DKK.
