Promoting Georgian Competition on TV Show
The Georgian History Competition project team was invited to the morning show of Georgia’s widely known TV channel “Formula TV” and got the opportunity to present the 2021/2022 Georgian history competition to a wide audience.
Mariam Kereselidze (DVV International Georgia), Nana Tsikhistavi (Georgian Association of History Educators) and Rusudan Kobakhidze (SovLab) were interviewed by three TV moderators and left no answers open. The team used their 15 minutes on air to introduce all facets of the history competition.
Mariam Kereselidze, Project Coordinator of DVV International Georgia, started with a general overview on the project, its background and its partners within the EUSTORY Network. She then presented the concept and topic of the current Georgian competition “30 Years Since the End of the Soviet Rule”, while holding the competition poster toward the camera.
Nana Tsikhistavi, President of the Georgian Association of History Educators (GAHE), gave vivid insights into online trainings available to history teachers all over Georgia to prepare them for their task of assisting students during their research works.
Finally, Rusudan Kobakhidze, member of the NGO Soviet Past Research Laboratory (SovLab), spoke about the importance of finding a personal access to history, of starting researches on one’s own and in one’s personal surroundings. She underlined that many facets of history were not to be found in text books (yet), thus reflecting EUSTORY’s methodological basis.
All three project team members agreed that the current war in Ukraine again demonstrates the urgent need for critical and multiperspective approaches to one's own past, and therefore they recommended the participation in the Georgian History Competition 2021/2022 as a suitable training ground.
