Insights into Polish-German Relations Past and Present
For decades, Polish-German relations and the common history of Polish and German citizens in the last century played an important role in the Polish EUSTORY history competition organised by the KARTA Centre Foundation.
In 2024, the KARTA Centre Foundation began work on documenting the history of Poland's relations with the countries of the Weimar Triangle. The project, funded by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be completed this year with publications on Polish-German relations over a period of 40 years (1984-2024) and Polish-French relations in the 20th century.
On the occasion of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 January to 30 June 2025, a short trailer has been released as part of the project, capturing crucial moments in the history of Poland's relations with the partner countries of the Weimar Triangle.
Polish-German relations were also at the heart of the debate "Opening the Borders. Polish-German Dialogue 1984-2004-2024", organised by the KARTA Centre in Warsaw on 18 December 2004. The event brought together the following high-level experts from both countries:
