On May 25, 2013, Switzerland’s History Competition HISTORIA awarded twelve young researchers during its award ceremony in the National Library in Berne. All in all, 87 participants took part in the competition 2011/2013 and the jury had a wide range of mostly superb research papers to choose from. It is with great pleasure that HISTORIA can state that the winners came from all parts of Switzerland. Out of a total of 35 submissions, seven came from the Italian speaking area of Ticino, nine from the French speaking districts of the Romandy, and nineteen from the German speaking part of Switzerland.

Owing to the competition topic A Place. Stories? History!, the research works covered many historical places: A guide through Basel at Christmas time, the history of a weapons factory in Geneva, histories of different hotels, internee’s camps, houses and other places such as train stations, castles, barracks, ports or dairies.

HISTORIA congratulates all the participants and the winners especially. Two of the winners will also have the opportunity to take part in a EUSTORY Youth Academy this year.

The topic of the next Swiss competition round (2013/2015) is "Typically Swiss?"
