Bridging Gaps Award
In 2024, Körber-Stiftung and THE CIVICS Innovation Hub presented the one-time Bridging Gaps Award. Non-governmental organizations across Europe and neighbouring countries that have successfully implemented youth projects fostering unity in polarised societies were invited to apply.
The programmes or activities should demonstrate innovation, impact, and sustainability in bridging gaps between young people with distinct national, ethnic, political, religious or cultural affiliations. Programmes that include a critical reflection on the historical roots of current conflicts in their work were favoured. Geographically, the area of the Council of Europe is our first reference here.
The prize winner was awarded on 14 Nov in Tirana at the fringe of the NECE Festival 2024 “Borders” in Albania: The UK-based initiative Solutions Not Sides had convinced the jury with their education programme for British secondary schools on the Israel-Palestine conflict. The award was presented to Solution not Sides representative Jess Brandler.
