About the Organisation
The Portuguese Association of History Teachers (APH) is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Its main goal is the improvement of history teaching and, subsequently, the improvement of historical consciousness amongst students, making use of good practices such as multi-perspective and comparative history. APH was established in 1981, during the process of re-democratisation of the Portuguese society that took place between 1969 and 1985. Scope of action: Portugal, Spain and CPLP (countries where Portuguese is used as official language).
About the Competition
The Portuguese competition in held since 2014 at an Iberian level in cooperation with the Spanish Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda. The competition addresses 4th year of secondary school or 1st and 2nd year of Baccalaureate or Professional Training (14 to 21 years old). Participation is open to students from Spain, Portugal and the Americas. The format of the works is free.
