Representatives of the twenty-four member countries of the EUSTORY network will gather in Berlin from 8 - 11 May to hold their annual network meeting. The meeting will be held within the framework of the HistoryCampus Europe 14|14 and the focus will be on "Remembering, teaching and commemorating European history in 2014 – New approaches and innovations for the EUSTORY Network".

The conference will be officially opened with an introductory note about dealing with the experiences of the two world wars in the conveyance of history in today's Europe by Sylvia Löhrmann. Ms Löhrmann is President of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs for the states in the Federal Republic of Germany and Minister of Education and Further Education of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Furthermore, Ms Löhrmann will discuss about history, remembrance and identity with alumni of the EUSTORY network. Young alumni from Poland, Finland and Slovenia will describe the meaning of the two world wars for the culture of remembrance in their home countries and for them personally as young Europeans in the 21st century.

Core issue of this year's EUSTORY meeting are innovative approaches to teaching and conveying history. In discussions, workshops and guest lectures, methods will be presented and discussed in a European setting. One of the issues that is to be explored is how participants of history competitions can be supported in revising and implementing their research results in a creative way. Which options are there and how can creative approaches be evaluated in the framework of competitions? How can teachers be motivated to encourage competition participants to choose creative approaches to conveying history?

A visit to the presentation of the workshop results at the great closing celebration of the HistoryCampus on Saturday at the Maxim Gorki Theatre will conclude this year's Annual EUSTORY Network Meeting.

An exchange beyond this conference about all topics concerning history and the culture of remembrance is possible via the new international communication and collaboration platform Young History Forum which the Koerber Foundation launched recently.

Young people from within the Koerber network, such as the EUSTORY community and their competition organisers, or from affiliated partners can use this platform for cross-border debates in closed groups about history and Europe.
