The first Czech EUSTORY-Competition in cooperation with the civic Czech organization “PANT Citizens Association” reached its closing date for entries: Until 1st November Czech students aged between 15 and 20 had the opportunity to submit their essays on the topic "Also a Place Has Its Memory - In the Footsteps of My Region's History". Assisted by their teachers, students (alone or in groups of up to five) researched regional history topics and the question in which way places and history are connected.

A jury of academics and history teachers will now start to judge the entries. At the Award Ceremony in February 2014 all participants will receive a certificate. The best authors will also have the chance to win a tablet PC.

The Czech EUSTORY-Competition is supported by Petr Fiala, Czech Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, the Department of History of the Charles University in Prague, and the University of Ostrava.

PANT Citizens Association has been organising the Czech EUSTORY-Competition since 2012. Founded 2007 in Ostrava, PANT is focused on educating and informing the general public in the areas of human rights and modern history. It aims mainly at educational activities in the fields of history, documentaries, increasing knowledge related to history and mapping Czech, Slovak, Central European and European historical contexts.

Besides the EUSTORY competition, PANT organises another history competition called "Stories of the 20th Century" in which Czech and Slovakian students can participate.
