The new French history competition is modeled after the German competition and will become the twenty-third member of the EUSTORY network. On the occasion of the launching of the new competition in France, six young Europeans discussed with Jacques Delors (former president of the European Commission) and Valéry Giscard d’Estaing (former French President) "Building Europe as a Project of Several Generations". One of the young people on the panel was Roman Roobroeck (19), member of the EUSTORY alumni network and former prize winner of the EUSTORY competition in Belgium.

This debate is inspired by an earlier summit organised in April 2011 in Hamburg between a group of Eustory young professionals and Helmut Schmidt.

The event took place on Wednesday, 14 November 2012, 2 pm - 4 pm, in the “Palais de la Mutualité”, a venue where several major meetings marked the XXth century French political history. The auditorium of 1100 seats capacity mainly welcomed high-school students from Paris and Region Île-de-France but also from other regions in France.

The event was moderated by Arnaud Leparmentier, Journalist, Le Monde
