New Competition Round in Poland
The KARTA Center in Poland announced the seventeenth edition of the "History of Hand" competition for the school year 2012/2013. The competition topic is "Poles and their neighbours after World War II: against each other, side by side, together".
Students are asked to research the topic on the basis of the experience in the community from which they come or in which they live: in the city, in the countryside, in the family circle, in their neighborhood. How did the relationship between neighbours change in the second half of the 20th century - neighbours both living inside the country and in neighbouring countries.
Students should examine important events as well as everyday life: the trauma of World War II, the divisions during the time of the "Iron Curtain", the revolution of "Solidarity", the breakthrough year 1988-1989, or the co-existence in a united Europe.
