Nova Doba Publication on WW II
Nova Doba, the Association of Teachers of History and Social Education in the Ukraine, has published a collection of articles entitled "Current Discussions About the Second World War".
The collection covers the following topics:
- The historical experience of Central and Eastern Europe in the years of World War II
- Holocaust and genocides in the Ukraine during WW II
- Collaboration and resistance during WW II
- Teaching the history of WW II
The collection is a result of three round tables in 2011 and 2012 with Ukrainian (and foreign) students, teachers, and scientists.
In 2011-2012, the project "The memory of the war. War memories" was started. The purpose was to initiate an open discussion among historians, scholars and teachers of history on overcoming social contradictions relating to the memory of World war and its lessons for today's youth in Ukraine on the background of regional, political, ethnic and other social prejudices.
