The year 2020 brought a global pandemic. All over the world we are experiencing how this corona crisis not only has a massive impact on our present, but will also shape our future, because it seems to permeate all areas. How do we as individuals and as a society deal with these challenges? Will looking at past crises help us deal with current ones?

More than 40 young Europeans between the ages of 16 and 25 from 16 countries will address this question in this year's cross-border programme for EUSTORY prize winners. As in previous years, the participants use history as a laboratory for international understanding. But how can such a laboratory function in times of corona with travel restrictions and physical distancing in place? During the eCommemoration Campus 2020, the participants will come together digitally and work on historical crises from different perspectives in three cross-border workspaces.

There will be a focus on different historical experiences of crises and on the question of how crises affect different areas of life and groups. In the workspace "Home During Crisis - Stories of Losing, Leaving and Finding a Home" the participants will use multimedia storytelling to approach the question of how the home can become the centre of crisis. It can be a safe place and retreat, a constricting or threatening space, and you can also lose a home.

The workspace "Childhood During Crisis - Growing up in Difficult Times" is run in cooperation with the War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo. Participants will look at the experiences of children, a group particularly affected by crises, and will process and present their findings in a virtual exhibition.

In the third workspace "Hope in Difficult Times - How to Cope with Crises?" participants will use the approach of constructive journalism to explore how individuals and societies deal with crises and where crises can perhaps even be catalysts for innovation.

During the eCommemoration Campus 2020 "Beyond the Crisis", participants will develop new, interactive and participatory forms of remembrance culture and take advantage of the many digital opportunities for cross-border cooperation. In addition to virtual group rooms, so-called flipped classrooms, participants will meet in video conferences, learn digital working methods, deepen their digital skills and receive training in modern storytelling. There will also be Community Events that will focus on intercultural learning in more informal encounters. From December onwards, the digital work results of the three eCommemoration Campus Workspaces will be freely accessible to everyone.
