Two countries, two cities, one border, one Baltic identity? At the First Baltic Sea Youth Dialogue 22 young Europeans from 12 different countries around the Baltic Sea discussed and photographed the history and future of borders and identities. Their pictures are now on display in the virtual exhibition #balticeye.

As part of the First Baltic Sea Youth Dialogue, 22 young people from 12 countries gathered at the Estonian-Russian border for a week of history-tracking on the topic "Europe on the Move – History and Future of Borders and Identities". The participants, among them 17 EUSTORY prize winners, focused in particular on the importance of shared borders, the shifting of borders in the past and present; in a future scenario workshop they debated with Estonian students from Narva College about future developments in the Baltic region and questions of Baltic identity. Different perspectives and insights were provided by discussions with the Estonian Minister of Education and Research and the German Ambassador as well as by a one-day-trip to the Russian town of Ivangorod on the other side of Narva River. The participants captured their ideas and visions in pictures on Instagram and put them together in their own virtual exhibition called "Balticeye", now on display online.

Until 31 October all visitors are invited to take part in our Balticeye exhibition competition by using the Facebook “like” button at the bottom of the picture to vote for your favourite photographs. The three pictures with the most “likes” will be printed, framed and exhibited at Narva College. Deadline for this photo competition is 31 October 2014.

The Baltic Sea Youth Dialogue was jointly organised by the Körber Foundation and the Council of the Baltic Sea States and it was hosted and supervised on the ground by Narva College.
