Serbia’s Student Protests: A Generation Demanding Change

For months, Serbia’s students have been protesting against corruption and political failures. What began with the tragedy of a collapsed train station roof has grown into a nationwide movement. The protests continue to expand—no longer just students, but people of all ages and backgrounds are joining in. Despite intimidation and resistance, demonstrators remain determined, marching, chanting, and making their voices heard. But can their movement bring real change?

Our EUSTORY-alumni Petar lives in Belgrade and is deeply involved in the current protests. EUSTORY’s student assistant Flemming spoke with him about the motives, his personal hopes and what makes the current protests so special in Serbia.
