President of Latvia Honours Latvian Prize Winners in Riga

On 20 May, the 25 winners and their tutors of the 16th Latvian History Competition were awarded by the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis. The ceremony took place in the Grand House of the Riga Latvian Society.

Latvian Example of Historical Research

Elīna wanted to learn more about the history of her family and how different ruling powers affected the life stories of her family members. She was surprised about the number of documents available in the archive regarding her great-grandfather. He had been interrogated by the Cheka, the Soviet Secret Service. President of Latvia Opens Award Ceremony in Riga

On 21 May 2016, the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, opened the EUSTORY award ceremony in the “Riga Latvian Society House”. He expressed his gratitude saying: "The time in which we live affects our options and choices, but it also determines our responsibility for our land and country. Without knowledge of history and respect for it, there is no future. Looking at you, competition winners, I am proud and I know that Latvia is in safe hands."

Latvian President Awarded Prize Winners in Riga

On 23 of May 2015 the State President of Latvia, Andris Bērziņš, awarded the winners and their tutors of the Latvian History Competition “History around us” in the grand House of the Riga Latvian Society. More than 200 students as well as their relatives and teachers from all over Latvia came to Riga to take part in this magnificent event. The topic of this year’s competition round was “Artifacts as a Source of History”.
