Artificial intelligence will change everything, proclaim critics and supporters alike. But does this also include history competitions? Norway tells an optimistic tale.
The first Norwegian History Competition took place in 1999/2000. Karsten Korbøl, teacher of History and Civics, has been serving as the coordinator of the competition since 2006. In this interview he reviews the competition’s impact and the specific role history is playing in his country.
In 2012-2013, the Norwegian Historical Association (HIFO) organised the 14th history competition. The year 2013 marked the 100 anniversary of universal suffrage in Norway. So In addition to the traditional competition ‘My family and history’, HIFO organised an additional competition called ‘Participation in the democracy’.
