Historical Clarification as a Human Right

Historian and co-founder of the Russian civil society organisation MEMORIAL, Arsenij Roginskij, died in December 2017. On 4 March 2018, the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the German Society for Eastern European Studies commemorated the enlightener and humanist from Russia in a matinee. The event was supported by many further institutions, among them the Körber Foundation as a long-standing partner of MEMORIAL International. MEMORIAL is a member of the EUSTORY Network and has been running a history competition in Russia since 1999.

Irina Sherbakova Is Awarded with the 2017 Goethe Medal

For her special merits for the international cultural exchange, the German Goethe-Institut awards Irina Sherbakova with this year’s Goethe Medal. As a long-standing partner of the EUSTORY Network, she has been running the Russian history competition for many years.

Successful Award Ceremony in Moscow Despite Obstacles

Carefully planned safety precautions were necessary during the prize-giving ceremony of the Russian history competition on 26 April in Moscow. After the booking of the original venue was cancelled at short notice, the competition host MEMORIAL, a member of the EUSTORY network, was able to move the event to the Nikitskie Gate Theatre.
