The President of the Republic of Estonia announced the topic »Prerequisites of Estonian Independence« for the 18th EUSTORY Competition for student research papers in history. As February 24th, 2018 will mark the centenary of Estonia’s independence, it is just the right time to begin the search for the core reasons that led to this historic event.

President of Estonia Awards Prize Winners in Tartu

On 6 May 2016, seven participants of the 17th Estonian EUSTORY History Competition were awarded for their works on the topic of »Estonian Cause«. The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Education and Research. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, President of the Republic of Estonia, stated: »We all became much wiser in the aspect of how diverse and rich our own Estonian cause is.«

Estonian Award Ceremony 2015

During this year’s Estonian award ceremony one of the participants stated: “My research for this competition made me understand how lucky current generations are to be living in a free country.” The topic of this year’s round was “Estonia during World War II" and the ceremony was held on 8 May 2015 in the Hall of Ministry of Education and Research in Tartu.

Estonian Award Ceremony 2013

The award ceremony for the 14th edition of the Estonian History Competition took place on 18th May at the Ministry of Education and Research in Tartu in the south of Estonia. This round marks the end of an era: Tiiu Ojala and Viivi Rohtla stepped down as Estonian organisers.
