Award Ceremony of the 10th Czech History Competition

On April 18, ten prize-winners of the annual Czech History Competition received their prizes at the award ceremony that took place in the Town Hall of Prague 3. Many partners and co-operating organisations of the competition attended the event.

Czech Example of Historical Research

For his research about the story of a photograph which was taken in 1943 on the Eastern front during the Second World War, Jiri Klůc was awarded third prize in the 2015/2016 Czech history competition. He is one of 10,000 young Europeans who conduct historical research within the EUSTORY Network annually. Take a look at what Jiri said about his competition entry.

Czech Award Ceremony 2015

On 15 April 2015 the award ceremony for the winners of the Czech EUSTORY Competition took place in the Town Hall in Prague. Forty-three participants submitted their works to this year’s topic “The Story of a Photograph - Memory and History in Front and Behind the Lens”. The award ceremony started with the opera singer Edita Adlerová who performed different creations written by George Gershwin. The awards were presented by the famous Czech actor Zdeněk Svěrák. The students also had the opportunity to talk to Ondrej Kolínský, Czech EUSTORY Alumni from 2009.

Czech Award Ceremony 2014

„All important historical events had their beginning in Prague,“ started the Czech writer and actor Zdeněk Svěrák his opening speech, giving the Defenestration of Prague in 1618 as an example. Svěrák may have exaggerated the role of Prague as the cradle of historical events a bit, but one thing is true: This ceremony on 20 February in Prague was the kick-off event for EUSTORY’s award ceremony season 2014.
