Even after the forced dissolution of MEMORIAL International, Körber-Stiftung and EUSTORY continue to stand by their partner organisation as well as its concern to promote an open approach to Russian and European history.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog Meets Prize Winners
On 27 December 2021, the President of the State of IsraelIsaac Herzog met with the prize winners of the Israeli History Competition 2021. The students who received their prizes during a large ceremony organised by The Historical Society of Israel submitted historical research projects on a topic of their choosing.
Teacher workshops in Kiev used immersive theatre methods as a new approach in order to "transfer" the participants into the different times of the Soviet era. An old suitcase and several letters played an important part and triggered the debate.

On 16 November 2021, German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier honoured this year’s first prize winners of the German History Competition in his official residence Bellevue Palace in Berlin. The topic of the competition was “Times in Motion: Sports and Society" which encouraged over 3,400 young people nationwide to send in 1,349 entries.
There has been a further escalation in the fight of Russian authorities against the country’s civil society: On 11 November, the International MEMORIAL Society in Moscow has received a court summons that aims at the organisation’s liquidation under the “foreign agents” act. MEMORIAL is one of the founding members of EUSTORY and thus a long-standing partner of both the networks and Körber-Stiftung.
For the first time in the history of the Czech History Competition, the three main prize winners were selected during the actual award ceremony. On 22 October 2021, 10 finalists of the competition’s first round gathered at PANT Centrum in Ostrava to present their works.
One hundred sixty participants from Spain and Portugal, as well as from Peru, Chile, Colombia, Cuba and Guatemala handed in 48 contributions revolving around the topic “Work and Crisis” to the 14th Iberian History Competition. Forming an integral part of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda’s Awards and Scholarships Ceremony, the prize winners were awarded on 15 October 2021.
