On 21 June 2019, the winners of the 14th Slovak History Competition were awarded at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava under auspices of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO.
For the first time in the Swiss history competition, works in five different languages were submitted in the current competition on the topic "Youth on the Move". Reason enough for Antonia Schmidlin of the management team to present her perspective on linguistic diversity at the award ceremony on 18 May 2019 in Zurich.
About 5,600 pupils conducted research in the current German History Competition entitled “Enough Is Enough - Crisis, Change, a New Beginning”. The Körber Foundation received a total of 1,992 contributions from teams and individuals. This constitutes the highest number of entries since 1993.
The award ceremony of the Italian history competition took place on May 31, 2019 at the Fondazione per la Scuola della Compagnia di San Paolo which has been organising the competition since 2004. The topic of the 2018/19 edition was "Transitions: The Two Post-War Eras of the 20th Century”.
On 25 May 2019, the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, awarded the winners and their tutors of the Latvian History Competition in the grand House of the Riga Latvian Society. More than 130 pupils, their relatives, teachers and tutors from all over the country took part in the magnificent ceremony.
22 May 2019 was the day of the finals for the Irish History Competition organised by “Breaking the SEAL” (BTS). The occasion was incorporated in the 20 Year Celebration of the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG)’s Access Centre. The Centre aims at providing support to students coming from non-tradition routes to access third level education. BTS is one such programme.
The ninth award ceremony of the Swiss National History Competition took place on 18 May 2019 at the National Museum in Zurich. Due to the high standard of the submissions, the jury decided to award three first, second and third prizes this year.
This year’s call for participation in the Russian history competition showed a strong representation of 14 and-15-year-olds. In total, more than 1,600 entries were submitted, and the best works were honoured at the award ceremony in Moscow at the Nikitski Gate Theatre on 25 April.
