The year 1989 is a symbol of the transitions in Europe. 30 years later, from 15 to 19 October 2019, the EUSTORY Next Generation Summit will bring together 120 young people from 30 countries in Europe and beyond in Berlin to explore how people experienced the transitions and what remains of the dream of a united Europe.
The signs in the Middle East conflict are pointing to storms ahead rather than to a period of relaxation. Despite this, history teachers from Israel and the Occupied Territories have embarked on a joint programme to improve cooperation in everyday life.
The 29th award ceremony of the Welsh EUSTORY History Competition was held on 5 July 2019 at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea. About 4,858 young people participated in this year’s competition and set out to research on the topic of “My Heritage”.
The eleventh edition of Bulgaria's National History Competition on the topic of “Childhood in History” has successfully finished. The winners were awarded in an official ceremony, which was held in the Central Military Club Sofia on 22 June 2019.
On 21 June 2019, the winners of the 14th Slovak History Competition were awarded at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava under auspices of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO.
For the first time in the Swiss history competition, works in five different languages were submitted in the current competition on the topic "Youth on the Move". Reason enough for Antonia Schmidlin of the management team to present her perspective on linguistic diversity at the award ceremony on 18 May 2019 in Zurich.
About 5,600 pupils conducted research in the current German History Competition entitled “Enough Is Enough - Crisis, Change, a New Beginning”. The Körber Foundation received a total of 1,992 contributions from teams and individuals. This constitutes the highest number of entries since 1993.
The award ceremony of the Italian history competition took place on May 31, 2019 at the Fondazione per la Scuola della Compagnia di San Paolo which has been organising the competition since 2004. The topic of the 2018/19 edition was "Transitions: The Two Post-War Eras of the 20th Century”.
On 25 May 2019, the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, awarded the winners and their tutors of the Latvian History Competition in the grand House of the Riga Latvian Society. More than 130 pupils, their relatives, teachers and tutors from all over the country took part in the magnificent ceremony.
