History Matters! Prizewinners selected for EUSTORY Youth Academies in 2013

Fifty prizewinners of national history competitions from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Ukraine will take part in the EUSTORY Youth Academies in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Helsinki, Finland in the autumn.

Welsh Award Ceremony 2013

This year’s Welsh award ceremony took place in the President’s Lounge at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on June 28th. Excited schoolchildren and their teachers from 45 schools came to find out who had won the prizes in this, the 23rd year of this national competition.

Belgian Award Ceremony 2013

In 2012-2013, BELvue, the centre for democracy and history organised the 6th EUSTORY history competition. The topic dealt with migration: 'The story of a suitcase'. On 26 June, all the winners were invited to the awards ceremony at the BELvue-museum in Brussels.

Slovak Award Ceremony 2013

On 7 June, 2013 the award ceremony of Slovakia’s history competition took place in the UNESCO Information and Documentation Center in Bratislava. A total of 49 contributions written by 84 participants were submitted. The Slovak competition is organised by the Centre for Communication and Development(SCCD), a non-profit organisation which was founded in 2005.

Bulgarian Award Ceremony 2013

This year's award ceremony in Bulgaria took place on 1 June, 2013 in Sofia in the National History Museum, located in the former socialist president’s residence. Former Bulgarian president Petar Stoyanov handed the awards to the students for their research works on the topic of 'Tolerance in Bulgaria'.

Latvian Award Ceremony 2013

The award ceremony of the Latvian history competition took place in Riga, in The House of Blackheads, the President's residence, on 25 May, 2013. There were 135 research works this year, submitted by 165 students of all districts of Latvia. It was the 12th round of the national history competition and the topic of this round was “The history of education in Latvia”.

Swiss Award Ceremony 2013

On 25 May, 2013, Switzerland’s History Competition HISTORIA awarded twelve young researchers during its award ceremony in the National Library in Berne. The topic was "A Place. Stories? History!" The winners came from all parts of Switzerland.
